Hydrus Galaxy
The Hydrus Galaxy was the third galaxy to be reached by the Energon Empire. As they did, they discovered the tremendous Grand Nebula and the titanic war that enveloped it. Today the galaxy is a rather peaceful one that produces a great many resources for the Empire. CV: Toligora
Physical Description: Black hole fields, miniature nebulae Population: Average Industry: Dense-matter harvesting, explosives technology, power generation Politics: Practicalist, Republic Notes: This sector was devoid of life before the Energon Empire came and colonized it. Now it is run quite profitably by many technicians and workers. The Grand Nebula Alliance has been working to pressure this sector into its alliance so that it could take a greater part in its power generation capabilities. CW: Imizoth Physical Description: Decaying worlds, old stars, space cities Population: Below Average Industry: Mining of dead planets [Grand Nebula Alliance] Politics: Practicalist, Republic Notes: During the Great Nebula War, refugee Tob’ron fled to this region. Seeing that there were hardly any worlds fit for life, the refugees built space cities and began to mine out the dying planets. However, conditions on these planets often make the mining dangerous. CX: Energon Hydrova Physical Description: Old stars, Hydrus Gate Population: Below Average Industry: Trade (declining), mining (growing) [GNA] Politics: Practicalist, Republic Notes: Centuries ago, the Energons first came to the Hydrus Galaxy through the Hydrus Gate in this sector. Energon Hydrova quickly became the major port for all intergalactic trade. However, numerous smaller gates that have opened throughout the galaxy have dwindled the sector’s trade. Now it can only offer cheap tariffs and a few mines. CY: Mrim’Tazol Physical Description: Average stars, desert worlds Population: Below Average Industry: Irrigated farming, mining [GNA] Politics: Practicalist, Confederation Notes: This sector was colonized by the Toski Feudal Lords from the Grand Nebula. Massive projects have irrigated several of the worlds, but the import of water is a costly process. Today it remains an ally of the GNA, looking forward to a better future. CZ: Vyggola Physical Description: Old stars, moved worlds Population: Average Industry: Internal mining, agriculture Politics: Practicalist, Democracy Notes: The native Vygg trace their ancestry back to the Grand Nebula, where historians say they were driven out by Toski Feudal Lords in an ancient war. Today they spend most of their time minding their own sector’s business, sometimes moving worlds out of the way of potential supernovae. DA: Nycomm Fields Physical Description: Old stars, zoozle herds Population: Sparse Industry: Hunting Politics: Practicalist, Democracy Notes: This sector is populated by massive herds of space-amphibious creatures called zoozle. It was first discovered by Tob’ron explorers, who found little of import here. Today, only a few hunters live here, making their living from the zoozle herds. DB: Ugalo Physical Description: Older stars, artsy worlds Population: Above Average Industry: Artisans Politics: Practicalist, Socialism Notes: The powerful Lyoss built a magnificent communist system long ago in this sector’s heyday. However, a plague sprang up and the resulting panic-induced riots tore the sector apart. The Energon Empire discovered their turmoil and rescued them with advanced medicine. To this day, the Lyoss are very grateful and supportive of the Empire. DC: Flaritog Physical Description: Average stars and worlds, major mining fields Population: Average Industry: Mining [GNA] Politics: Practicalist, Parliamentary Notes: This sector was created by the Plarison Empire to gain needed resources for the Grand Nebula War. During the war, the settlers of the sector broke away from the empire, though it kept up good relations with its motherland. Notably, the majority of the architecture in this sector is made from stone, wood, and paper instead of the typical metallic construction. DD: Grand Nebula Physical Description: Gigantic liquid nebula, numerous star systems within Population: Substantial Industry: Trade, manufacturing, mining, agriculture, commerce [GNA] Politics: Practicalist, Parliamentary Notes: The Grand Nebula is the second largest sector in the Energon Empire. The majority of the sector is filled with the enormous liquid nebula for which the sector is named. The liquid is made of compounds of water, carbon, and ultra-light “nitrogen jelly” with an average temperature of 28°C. Special star-light phenomena known as “Lights” are built from phosphorescent hydrogen-helium cores. The planets are similar to planets of other sectors, though they have no atmospheric difference from the nebula. The sector is home to many races, including the insectoid Tob’ron, humanoid Gangli, brain-like Tetch, ichthyiod Lackola, twin giant cellular Gazzalor and Pfarf, floral Vazi and Rooh, and nebular Kosa, Frinn, Jorbic, and Yilth. Long ago, the Grand Nebula was split into several large nations made up from these races: the Tob’ron Empire, Toski Feudal Lords (populated by Tetch and Gangli), T’kol Allied (Gazzalor, Pfarf, and Lackola), Vlin Empire (Vazi), Plarison Empire (Kosa and Rooh), and the Great Confederation (made up of Frinn, Jorbic, and Yilth). Centuries before the Energon Empire arrived in this galaxy, the large nations fell into a titanic nebula-wide war known as the Grand Nebula War. As the centuries of war dragged on, the bickering nations threatened to wipe out the whole galaxy. When the Energon Empire arrived, the Jyphus took it upon himself to end this war. Using every available warrior and ship, he overwhelmed the nebula and forced the members of the war into an armistice. After a four-year long congress to sort out their issues, peace was finally declared and the Grand Nebula Alliance was born. Since then, the nebula has enjoyed profitable peace and is working to create an industrial system as great as the Trans-Energon Trade Alliance. DE: Ostarigus Physical Description: Average stars, Lesser Nebula, Hydrus Military Base Population: Below Average Industry: Nebular mining [GNA] Politics: Practicalist, Republic Notes: This sector holds the smaller nebula which, many historians say, began the Grand Nebula War. The colonization of the nebula caused strife between the different parties in the larger nebula, and eventually the strife lead to full-fledged war. Now, however, it stands as an example as to how well the congress for peace has worked. The Hydrus Military Base, the largest military facility in the galaxy, established by the Energons during the Grand Nebula War, watches over the harmony of nebula today. DF: Jeriga Physical Description: Dead worlds, gigantic shield generators Population: Average Industry: Shielding technology Politics: Superiorist, Republic Notes: The native Jerigs developed their advanced shielding technology through a love for a sport similar to boxing. Biological shielding placed on the skin protects the combatants from damage, allowing for matches to be longer and more exciting. Eventually, they began to develop larger shielding techniques for nearly indestructible battleships. The Jerig now hold that the Energon Empire should expand to conquer the whole of the universe. DG: Ere’bok Physical Description: Dust fields, Ere Cluster Population: Above Average Industry: Dust mining Politics: Internalist, Council (appointed by Jeriga) Notes: The native space-amphibious Bok have lived in the dust fields of this sector peacefully for millennia. When Jeriga colonists established settlements in the Ere star cluster, both groups realized that the dust fields would be a valuable source for resources. Now the Bok perform the mining and sell the ores to the Jeriga, who transport it to other sectors. DH: Sarka Physical Description: Average stars and worlds, enormous comets Population: Below Average Industry: Comet harvesting, other mining Politics: Radicalist, Democracy Notes: This sector’s radicalism continually protests the Energon imperial police enforcement. They hold that each sector should have its own laws, which would be in their favor for the legalization of Comet Dusst (a potent drug for humanoids). DI: Welladoone (translated “New Lands” in Vazi) Physical Description: Average stars, Welladoone Engineering Olympics Population: Above Average Industry: Mining, refining, construction [GNA] Politics: Practicalist, Republic Notes: The native Klib were long ago manipulated into the Vlin’s Empire. The Vlin advanced them to the point that the Klib enjoyed engineering so much that they established their own festivals to celebrate engineering. Every five years, the Welladoone Engineering Olympics produces dozens of new engineering miracles. DJ: Qim’non Physical Description: Average worlds, spacious, Space Cathedral Population: Above Average Industry: Music Politics: Practicalist, Council (of four greatest voices) Notes: The native Qim’non have four sets of vocal chords, which has made their society be based on music. This sector holds the best colleges of music in the Empire and is the site of every musician’s dream. The sector’s most notable structure is the Space Cathedral, an artificial nebula designed for amazing resonating ability. DK: Plact Ojo Physical Description: Other liquid nebulae (possibly cast off from creation of Grand Nebula) Population: Above Average Industry: Manufacturing, mining Politics: Practicalist, Confederation Notes: Using Yilth transport pods, the Great Confederation long ago colonized this sector from the Grand Nebula. The native Ojo (distant cousins of the Sarka) allied themselves with the Great Confederation, though they held to self-rule until being absorbed by the Energon Empire. DL: Alteraz Physical Description: Pristine wilderness Population: Above Average Industry: Tourism, hunting, exploitation [GNA] Politics: Practicalist, Democracy Notes: This sector is devoid of natural intelligent life, though its worlds are full of other forms of life. Since it was opened by the Great Confederation, it has been the source of many plots for exploitation. However, environmentalists have struggled against them to protect the amazing wild worlds. DM: Bumbilboss Physical Description: Average stars and worlds, Bumbilb Gate Population: Above Average Industry: Trade, mining (gems) [GNA] Politics: Practicalist, Tribal Leaders Notes: The native Bumbilb are a tribal race with ancient technology in transportation gates. Seeing the wealth of the Hydrus Gate, they copied Energon technology and made their own large intergalactic gate. Their gem mines have constantly been economically assaulted by the Vuldane, who wish to add these gems to their monopoly. However, through good connections with the Great Confederation, the Bumbilb have used the GNA as protection against the Vuldane. DN: Yilka Physical Description: Average worlds, Robja’s Lair Population: Above Average Industry: Mining, trade [GNA] Politics: Practicalist, Republic Notes: This sector is well known for its nebula, Robja’s Lair. Robja are ancient space-lizards and the source for many epic tales. The native Yil, liquid-like beings with amorphous bodies and the ability to alter their shape, grew through constant battles with these dragons. Nearly a century before the Energon Empire arrived in the Hydrus Galaxy, the Yil fought a series of wars against the Plarison Empire. The final war ended with the defeat and conquest of the Yil. Now, the Yil are allied with the Plarison Empire, who proved to be worthy rulers, and work well with the Grand Nebula Alliance. DO: Carba Physical Description: Ancient prison-worlds, Energon Great Prison Population: Average Industry: Prison construction and upkeep Politics: Freedomist, Council (appointed by Imperial Council on review of democratic polls) Notes: The Great Confederation used many of the worlds of Carba as penal colonies. When the Energon Empire took control, it found the sector very worthy of holding prisoners. Today, the Empire’s worst criminals are sent to the numerous prisons on worlds throughout the sector. The Energon Great Prison is a desolate world where the worst 2.5 billion public enemies are left and, when something comes to the prison, it never leaves. There are also many free people in this sector, workers for the prisons as well as freed prisoners. Political prisoners of the Grand Nebula War were freed by the Energon Empire, and they worked to create the Freedomist ideals of the sector. DP: Zobozo Physical Description: Well-manicured worlds, Hall of Mimics Population: Average Industry: Robot labor, high-class artifacts Politics: Orderist, Oligarchy [GNA] Notes: The proud native Ryv peoples are in many ways similar to the powerful Bosath of the Energon Galaxy. They joined the Empire and the GNA gladly, and are currently working to create a monopoly over the GNA’s industries. The impressive Hall of Mimics is a massive space station where the Ryv hold replicas of great landmarks from throughout the Empire. DQ: Vagooga Physical Description: Few stars, world-ships Population: Below Average Industry: Near-biological technology, pet training through telepathy Politics: Practicalist, Democracy Notes: The Black Ones (whose native name is untranslatable) as powerful telepaths. Their technology is also a very unique brand as it is primarily biological with mechanical additions. An example of this technology are the living organisms called world-ships, which travel from star to star as enormous cities whose factories work like organs. The sector is also known for its bizarre art, most of which can only be seen by the mind’s eye. Black Ones are often feared for their telepathic abilities, though they are limited by strong radio waves, which give them tremendous headaches. Usually, when traveling throughout the Empire, Black Ones wear static-retardant helmets, which also block their telepathic powers. DR: Floritan Physical Description: Average worlds, high percentage of space docks Population: Average Industry: Industrial construction, manufacturing Politics: Practicalist, Republic Notes: This sector was settled simultaneously by Ryv and Black Ones. Settlements remained small, as the two races were quite wary of one another, until the arrival of the Energon Empire. Today, Floritan stands as one of the largest manufacturing sectors of the Hydrus Galaxy. DS: Umtoba Physical Description: Abandoned colonies, growing colonies on soil-rich worlds Population: Sparse Industry: Agriculture [GNA] Politics: Practicalist, Republic Notes: The Tob’ron settled this sector with colonies during the Great Nebula War to feed its populace. As the war raged, refugees poured into the sector, but, when the war ended, they hurried to return to their home worlds. Now the sector is a very quiet one with a low population density, though its economic growth holds promise for the future. DT: New Tob’ronia Physical Description: Average stars, rich worlds, Ancient Spore Mines Population: Above Average Industry: Mining, export of minerals [GNA] Politics: Practicalist, Socialism Notes: This sector was once the Tob’ron’s greatest colony. Long before the Tob’ron discovered the sector, now-extinct space-insects filled it with fields of rich minerals gathered from planets. The enormous insects have now all disappeared, but their hives are left behind and able to be mined away. Many historians hold that the Tob’ron might have won the Great Nebula War with these resources, but the colonists rebelled and broke the Tob’ron’s hold on the Ancient Spore Mines. Now this sector is a member of the GNA and a source for many of its needed minerals. DU: Reginad Physical Description: Pristine worlds, growing population Population: Average Industry: Growing commerce Politics: Practicalist, Republic Notes: Rumors of space pirates have plagued this sector for millennia, but its pirates had long ago gone extinct. The Tob’ron refused to settle the sector for fear of pirates, but the Energon Empire did not hold the same caution. Now the sector is one of the fastest growing in the Empire and someday plans to join the GNA. DV: Gransor Physical Description: Grans Gem Mines Population: Below Average Industry: Gems Politics: Practicalist, Ruling Household Notes: This sector was discovered by explorers who happened upon its rich fields of gems. The Vuldane initially made a grab for control of the sector, but the Grans Gem Rush loosened their grip. Billions of people, some professional miners, others just looking to make some quick money, flooded the sector. Eventually, though, most of the easily gotten gems were taken and the rush ended. Now the Vuldane own the sector and it acts as a sleepy mining sector. DW: Xila Physical Description: Numerous stars, large construction stations Population: Average Industry: Weapons manufacturing Politics: Superiorist, Republic [Kollarian League] Notes: In ancient times, the Xila developed advanced astronomical equipment and were terrified by the awesome power of the empires of the Grand Nebula. Fearing eventual invasion, the Xila were terrified and built up enormous defensive fleets. However, they were never able to use them, as the Grand Nebula fell to war with itself. When the Energon Empire arrived, they convinced the Xila to join them and incorporated their massive fleets into the Energon war machine. To this day, however, many beings enjoy the genre known as Xila Paranoia, which includes thousands of stories about terrifying alien invasions. DX: Hesron Minor Physical Description: Average worlds, abundant terraforming projects Population: Above Average Industry: Agriculture, terraforming, growing manufacturing Politics: Internalist, Republic Notes: The Energon Empire began colonization of this sector, which was empty of native intelligent life. The good government has been building up the sector for centuries and sets aside many of their resources for investment in terraforming. The sector has a strong internalist movement and feels that the Empire should focus on interior problems before expanding. DY: Hesron Major Physical Description: Average worlds, spacious fields Population: Average Industry: Minor mining, estate construction Politics: Practicalist, Industrial Bureaucracy Notes: This sector was opened by the Energon Empire long ago, though it has a rather small population density. While some of the sector’s economy is based on mining, most of it comes from the enormous estates the wealthy of the Energon Empire have built using cheap land grants. Today it is a sign of wealth to own property in this sector, especially to own a world-sized manor. DZ: Iggono Physical Description: Worlds covered with water, hydro-spheres in space Population: Average Industry: Water production, hydro-power, hydro-farming Politics: Practicalist, Democracy Notes: The ichthyoid Iggroah live solely in water, thus the emphasis on a watery environment in their society. Their method of terraforming consists of generating water and flooding worlds. They even have constructed enormous hydro-spheres in space, which are large balls of water hanging in the zero-gravity. EA: Klithmoth Physical Description: Worlds with Factory Moons Population: Average Industry: Manufacturing Politics: Practicalist, Democracy Notes: Energon investors imagined that nearby sectors would produce plenty of resources and built up this sector as a manufacturing center. They surrounded worlds with Factory Moons, which would hang in orbit and produce needed items and equipment. Workers live on the unpolluted worlds below and commute into orbit to work in the busy orbiting stations. EB: Lista Physical Description: Very average sector, very little of consequence Population: Average Industry: Mixed agriculture, mining, and manufacturing Politics: Practicalist, Council (appointed by last generation council) Notes: The Tob’ron began the colonization of this sector, but the Energon Empire finished it when it arrived. Since the end of its colony days, the sector has been a very peaceful one where very little out of the ordinary happens. According to some, youngsters from this serene sector find the ordinary unbearable and leave it as quickly as possible. EC: Nosta Vegesta Physical Description: Average worlds and stars Population: Average Industry: Manufacturing Politics: Practicalist, Republic Notes: The Tob’ron wished to colonize this sector, but the native Kaji stopped them with their powerful navy. The two began to bicker, but the Energon Empire came in and ended their power struggle. Now both peoples work along side one another, though riots sometimes break out between them. ED: Oggus Prime Physical Description: Average worlds, older stars, nebular factories Population: Above Average Industry: Manufacturing, mining, agriculture Politics: Orderist, Empire [Trinary Alliance] Notes: The humanoid Voss are a powerful race. Their Oggus Empire was growing quite rapidly by the time the Energon Empire came to this galaxy, and they had a long debate on whether or not to join the Empire peacefully. They eventually did, and since then have prospered. The empire spreads through three sectors, which now act as the Trinary Alliance. EE: Energon Hydrus Eterius Physical Description: Artificial radioactive stars, heavily shielded worlds Population: Below Average Industry: Radiation experiments, factories Politics: Freedomist, Democracy Notes: Loose laws in this sector have allowed for poisonous experiments in radiation technology for years. The people hold to their freedomist views, determined to allow the environmentally unsound radiation technology that has brought them their wealth. Only ships with the strongest shielding can travel in this toxic sector, where people live under heavily shielded worlds and scarcely leave. EF: Oggus Second Physical Description: Average worlds, vast asteroid fields from exploded planets Population: Average Industry: Mining Politics: Practicalist, Empire [Trinary Alliance] Notes: This sector is the second of the Trinary Alliance and serves as its principle site for mining. Using devastating drill-bombs, miners blow up entire dead planets and gather the ore from space in gigantic mobile mining facilities. These explosive tools are worrisome to many, though the Voss promise that if any drill-bombs were to be used for evil, they could easily be destroyed before they could do any harm. EG: Oggus Third Physical Description: Agricultural worlds, fertilizer plants, large manufacturing facilities Population: Average Industry: Manufacturing, agriculture Politics: Practicalist, Empire [Trinary Alliance] Notes: To feed the growing population of the Trinary Alliance, Oggus Third has gradually updated its manufacturing economy into one of both manufacturing and agriculture. While this has caused a necessity to import many manufactured goods, the export of foodstuffs has well more than made up for it. EH: Herakim Physical Description: Mainly empty, some minor worlds and settlements Population: Sparse Industry: Development, developing commerce Politics: Practicalist, Appointed Government Notes: This race-less sector is still very much in its colonial state. Even the government has yet to evolve out of a position of requiring an appointed governor. However, the sector has many entrepreneurs and has the attention of businesses from around the Empire. Despite not having any exports today, this sector looks hopeful toward the future. EI: Irtova Byggyn Physical Description: Average worlds, enormous robots performing renewal projects Population: Below Average Industry: Reconstruction, manufacturing Politics: Practicalist, Appointed Government Notes: This sector was once home to a race known as the K’jobi. Over time, the race split into two separate groups, one known as Yellow K’jobi and the other as Blue K’jobi. The two races eventually had the devastating K’jobi Civil War, in which the Blue K’jobi exiled the whole of the Yellow K’jobi race. Under the rule of the Blue K’jobi, this sector has been declining since it first joined the Energon Empire. Several decades ago, the Blue K’jobi helplessly appealed to the Empire for aid, and the Empire began a project to reconstruct the whole of the sector. Hopefully the future will be bright for this sector. EJ: Jemmaz Byggyn Physical Description: Average worlds, energy-gathering solar satellites Population: Above Average Industry: Power generation, storage, transportation Politics: Practicalist, Monarchy Notes: As the Yellow K’jobi fled their homeland in defeat, they appointed a single ruler to guide them in their escape through the stars. Their ruler soon realized that the nearby Jerigs would require vast amounts of power for their shielding technology and set his populace about working to generate power. Their industry is still based on energy generation, storage, and transportation to Jeriga and beyond. As they were assimilated into the Energon Empire, the Yellow K’jobi created the coalition of companies known as Jemmaz Power Industries. Today, Jemmaz Power Industries is one of the most powerful economic entities in the Energon Empire and hopes to create a monopoly by dominating other power corporations. |
